Wuhan Kebei Technology Co., Ltd. as a high-tech enterprise specialized in laboratory construction, participated this first Chinese P4 laboratory project. The lab utilized advanced French design and technology. Kebei is the contract company for the building envelope, responsible for detailing the design and the actual construction. A novel construction technology was used. It is an intellectual property developed and owned jointly by Wuhan Institute of Virology, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Wuhan Kebei Technology Co., Ltd.

The highest level of biosafety laboratory in Wuhan Institute of Virology, Chinese Academy of Science, also known as “the P4 laboratory”, has been formally inspected and accepted in Wuhan lately, as one of the series cooperation projects for the 50th anniversary of Sino-French diplomatic ties. It is not only the first P4 laboratories in China, but also in Asia. The completion of the project signifies that Chinese Researchers will be able to independently carry out experimental study of virulent pathogens in their own lab, which is of high importance in working with other countries to cope with virulent infectious diseases, safeguard global biosecurity and protect the health of the humankind.
